Imagine being in this boat, fearful of this great storm and turbulent sea as Jesus stands up in the bow of the boat, his outstretched lowered left-hand calms the sea on the left. His raised right-hand is about to calm the sea on the right. Notice God's light emanating from Jesus across the ocean. If you had witnessed this event, how would you have felt?

Note: Wallace's creative use of the new moon is used to mark a beginning - a new beginning for all of us. The three stars together symbolize the trinity. In the calming of the sea, it is a beginning of awe of Christ by his disciples; a new understanding of Christ's relationship with God and the power and control over the universe this brings.
