Wendy Wallace has lived in Greensboro, NC, since 1972. Originally from Ithaca, NY, her family moved to Nashville, TN when she was two.

She graduated from UNCG with a BFA in painting in 1975. Prior to this, she attended Washington University in St. Louis Missouri and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. When she married Larry E. Wallace in 1974, she became the mother of 4 teenagers, Rhonda, Robin, Eddie and David and in 1978 added their daughter, Wellsley.

Wendy has looked for opportunities to use her artwork to make the world a better place. She has spent the past twenty years sharing her talent with a variety of businesses, churches and civic organizations. In the 1980’s, she designed and painted the West Washington Street Wall the historical mural in downtown Greensboro, NC. She benefited the Save the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Campaign with an original painting of “The Mystery of the Carroll A. Deering.” First American Savings Bank commissioned Wendy to create an historical mural for the grand opening of the Friendly Shopping Center building. In 1990’s she benefited the Old Greensborough Preservation Society through the sale of her "Greene Street Greensboro 1990" prints, created a series of pen and ink drawings of Greensboro for the boardroom of the Greater Greensboro Merchants Association. She coordinated The Downtowner Mural Park/Paint the Town WindowWorks Project. a community effort with Greensboro Beautiful, the Old Greensborough Preservation Society and the Paint the Town WindowWorks Project. She staged another large community project The Railroad Ghostwalk at the Depot sponsored by The Friends of the Depot, The Carolina Model Railroaders and The North Carolina Museum of Transportation at Historic Spencer Shops. In 2001 she completed a three-dimensional Amazon Rainforest Mural at Southern Home Spas which coordinated with her art exhibit of Animal Life of the Amazon at The Natural Science Center in Greensboro.

Wendy has done liturgical designs for needlepoint kneelers, paraments and church dramas. The Art Shop in Greensboro, North Carolina, Ambassador Gallery in West Palm Beach, Florida and The William Ris Gallery in Stone Harbor, New Jersey have exhibited Wendy’s coastal paintings.

She has also exhibited at 2 galleries in downtown Greensboro. Her portraits, commissioned paintings and prints can be found in homes and businesses around the country. Wendy is now a registered portrait instructor with the Portrait Institute of America. She is concentrating on working from life and after the Celebrate One Solitary Life debuts in NYC, she will teach artists to improve their God-given skills by doing portraits from life.

During all the above projects, Wendy has been following a calling to do The Life of Christ Series of paintings. Completed because of a vision she was given in 1980 to do a traveling exhibit on the Life of Christ, the series of 25 oil on canvas paintings tells the story of Christ’s life from “The Annunciation” through “The Ascension!” She spent the fall of 1999 developing the non-profit organization Christian Message through Art to support The Life of Christ Series in its missionary effort. The Life of Christ Series debuted at Christ United Methodist Church Dec.31, 1999 for the Millennium. It was so well received it was extended 2 weeks. It has also traveled to the Biblical Arts Center in Dallas, Texas, the Living Bible Museum in Mansfield, OH the Cannon House Office Rotunda, one of the Congressional House office buildings in Washington, DC, to Greenville, KY and Sacramento, NM. When the exhibit is in Greensboro its home is the third floor Main Building at Greensboro College.

In March 2001 the stage performance The Life of Christ Celebration 2000 and Beyond!, now entitled Celebrate One Solitary Life, based on the paintings premiered at the historic Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro. Since the show was a sell out, Christian Message through Art scheduled for 3 performances in March of 2002.  In the fall of 2006, Christian Message through Art produced the show again.  Videographers filmed the performances creating a DVD that serves to present this one of a kind musical extravaganza.  With the completion of this DVD, this performance is now ready for stages around the nation!  Is the next stage yours?
